From Gold Coast Airport to Surfers Paradise
The journey from Gold Coast Airport to Surfers Paradise can be made by road transfer or by bus and G:link tram. Gold Coast Airport uses the code OOL; Brisbane Airport is BNE and has a different onward route. For an arrival with luggage, a prebooked transfer is the straightforward starting choice. Public transport suits travellers who are comfortable changing vehicles and making the final journey from a tram stop to their accommodation.
Decide on your destination address before comparing transport. Cavill Avenue, the beachfront, Main Beach and Broadbeach are useful reference points, but an area name alone does not identify the right drop-off. Our guide to accommodation areas helps with that choice. Keep your arrival day separate from a tightly timed Gold Coast excursion, leaving room to collect luggage and reach your room.

Taxi and transfer from Gold Coast Airport (OOL)
A prebooked transfer lets you arrange the road journey around your arrival and accommodation address. Enter Gold Coast Airport as the departure point, then choose the actual destination and travel date to see the relevant price and availability. Compare the vehicle arrangement, luggage allowance and meeting instructions for that journey. A transfer search beginning at the airport still needs your destination; it should not be treated as an offer already matched to every Surfers Paradise address.
The airport gives approximately 30 minutes by car to Surfers Paradise, subject to traffic. Use that as a road estimate rather than the full time between landing and reaching your room. For a taxi, obtain the fare information for your own destination. For a booked transfer, keep the meeting instructions available after landing and distinguish a shared arrival service from a vehicle reserved exclusively for your party.
The shared arrival option featured here includes a one-way journey from Gold Coast Airport to a Gold Coast hotel in an air-conditioned minivan, with a driver/guide and GST. It suits travellers who want their arrival transport arranged and are happy to share. Choose it for the inbound leg and plan departure transport separately; the arrival service is not a return booking.

Airport bus and G:link tram
Under the network change dated 7 September 2026, bus 777 links the airport with Stockland Burleigh Heads, where the onward G:link connection serves Surfers Paradise. The tram extension to Burleigh Heads entered passenger service on 9 August 2026. Use the journey planner for your travel date and exact destination rather than following an older set of airport directions. This also gives you the appropriate stop for the final part of the journey.
There is no railway station at OOL itself. Bus 760 connects the airport with Varsity Lakes and Robina, providing another connection to the rail network. This is a different journey from bus 777 and the coastal tram. Choose the route for where you are actually going, rather than combining parts of both into an assumed direct service.
As checked on 5 November 2026, the standard Translink fare is AUD 0.50 for ordinary bus, train and tram travel. Transfer conditions still apply. The network is cashless, with go card, supported credit or debit cards, or devices used for payment. Airtrain, the privately operated river ferry and private airport transfers have separate fares, so allow for the transport you select.
Brisbane Airport (BNE)
From Brisbane Airport, Airtrain serves the domestic and international terminals and connects through Brisbane towards Helensvale. Change at Helensvale for the tram to Surfers Paradise. Airtrain describes the airport-to-Gold-Coast journey as about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the destination. Add the final journey to your address when planning arrival; that destination-dependent figure is not a door-to-door promise.
Price the journey through to your Gold Coast destination. An airport-to-Brisbane-City fare covers a different endpoint and should not be used as the cost of reaching Surfers Paradise. Likewise, keep Airtrain separate from the standard Translink fare when comparing this route with a road transfer.
Car hire and parking
Consider a hire car if the plan includes the hinterland or onward travel. OOL has rental desks in the terminal. Compare the complete rental terms, collection arrangements and parking at your accommodation before choosing this option. For a stay centred on the beach and promenade, weigh the extra parking arrangements against using transfers and local transport.
Near Appel Park, central parking garages include paid options at Bruce Bishop and Cypress Avenue. Ask about charges at the place you intend to park rather than assuming a beachfront visit includes parking. At OOL, the terminal frontage is not a waiting car park: arriving passengers should be ready for collection.

Is the shared arrival transfer a private car?
It is a shared one-way arrival transfer in an air-conditioned minivan. Select a separately described private service if you want an exclusive vehicle.
Does the standard Translink fare cover Airtrain?
Airtrain has a separate airport fare. Calculate the BNE journey through to your destination, including the tram connection and final access to your accommodation.
